John Thomas Griffith comes with many aliases. Known as Griff, or simply JTG, he is the most quiet and mysterious member of Cowboy Mouth and adheres to the creed of "Speak softly and carry a loud guitar". A member of the Texas Guitar Hall of Fame, JTG was born in Lubbock, Texas, in the early sixties and has been influenced by every genre of music under the sun. His piano playing took a turn for the better when his father brought home a man who opened the door to barrelhouse and boogiewoogie piano, a man named Glenn Miller.

As an original member of Cowboy Mouth, Griff is certainly no newcomer to the American music scene. His previous musings included a stint with the post-punk eighties rock band, the Red Rockers. Co-penning the hit "China", he was an MTV regular and toured with various music giants, including such artists as The Clash, U2, The Go-Gos, Men at Work, Joan Jett, and The B-52s. Now Griff lays it down hard and nasty, loud and proud as Cowboy Mouth's resident guitar hero and one half of the Mouth's "Twin Guitar Attack".

Drawing on his vast experience and varied influences, including spending the majority of his adult life soaking up the melting pot of sounds that make New Orleans famous, JTG produces his own records as well as records for others, often working in the production studio in his Atlanta home. Outside of ripping it up with the Mouth, Griff's current ambitions include continuing to produce quality solo albums along with pursuing his pet project of composing film scores.
